Major Engine Manufacturer Increases Uptime. Saves $12-Million With ATS

PROBLEM:
A major engine manufacturer was experiencing costly delays with its engine block transfer line. The line was producing an average of 60 blocks per day--well under the 122 units the company had set as a goal. Missing this goal by 62 blocks resulted in a loss of $49,600 per day based on the incremental costs to have the blocks machined elsewhere. Advanced Technology Services, Inc. was called to increase the line efficiency.

THE ATS SOLUTION:
ATS moved quickly applying best practices to improve the reliability and the efficiency of the transfer line. The first step was to replace the customers outdated Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). In addition, dedicated technicians became familiar with the specific machines to plan effective repairs faster. ATS developed a proactive maintenance program that enhanced production.

THE BOTTOM LINE:
After only three months, ATS in partnership with the customer's Six Sigma, team was not only able to meet the customer's production goals--the goals were exceeded. In fact, production went from 60 blocks a day to 124 blocks per day. And OEE began to climb rapidly to its current average of 80%. Total annual savings from ATS' production enhancement program - well over $12,000,000 per year.
